I hate to post about something serious . . . but I might as well. My mother is in the hospital undergoing tests for erratic sugar levels. They go up to 300+ after a meal and go down to 30. She passed out 2 times already over the last 2 weeks. They suspect something is wrong with her pancreas or adrenals.
Anyway – if the doctors confirm that she has pancreatic problems, i.e., a tumor, then one of the options is an operation. At her age (88) , I’m not keen on doing that. But someone will have to monitor her sugar levels on a daily basis, preferably someone who has some medical training. Apparently, there are professional caregivers that can be hired on a more or less full time basis. Going rate is PHP 6,000 a month. We will probably start to look for one soon.
