We had lunch at Aquavit today (see picture of cafe below). We’ve never had Swedish food this good. OK talaga ang Restaurant Week. Marita had chilled avocado soup as an appetizer, the third straight cold soup she’s had. I
had a herring sampler (pickled, curried, ceviche-style, with salmon roe, red onion, dill, sour cream . . .) The chef (Samuelsson) is really good. For the main course, Marita had meatballs with lingonberries. Ganoon pala dapat ang lasa ng meatballs! I had grilled hanger steak. Dessert was unexpectedly good. For Marita, it was goat cheese parfait, blueberry sorbet and passion fruit curd. For me – chocolate peanut butter cake with coconut ice cream.
Marita had 2 flavored aquavits (one with raspberry, lime and ginger, another with mango, lime and pepper) which she gulped down. Na-tipsy tuloy.
Aquavit is basically vodka. We didn’t know that. It’s like flavored Absolut. But Aquavit Restaurant uses some unique flavors, like espresso.
We sat next to a old couple (they must be have been in their early 80’s). They sat side by side (not across each other on the table). Sabi ni Marita kasi bingi na raw sila. Siguro nga. They both had salmon. We hope we can be as healthy as they are – and still able to eat with gusto – when we get to be their age.

Hey guys, watch those sugar intakes, especially in the aquavit! If you experience uncontrollable sleepiness after eating, you may want to check your glucose! Am not trying to scare you, but just speaking from experience.
By the way, how is Tita Ginia?
mama is doing better but she’s not quite fully recovered. she says her appetite isn’t great.
