UN people have been raving about this halal street food stand on 44th & 2nd. So I finally tried it with Marita for lunch. I ordered the #3 – lamb, curried rice, hot sauce and yoghurt sauce in the usual styrofoam container, with a canned soda. OK siya. It’s actually $5 but enough for two to share, so it’s a $2.50 meal.
I found this great NYC street food website – Streetgrub.com. It’s good enough to have a permanent place on this blog. Great resource for retirees and retirees-to-be.
BTW – there’s a fruit stand next to the halal cart. I bought black figs there once and tried my hand at making a dessert. Pretty simple. The recipe said slice the figs open, pour honey in the pit of each fig and roast them. I wasn’t sure how long to roast them but they turned out OK. It’s better with mascarpone cheese or prosciutto.
