I came across a nice book that summarizes a lot of the medical research on vitamin supplements. It was interesting because it listed what doctors and medical researchers actually took themselves on a daily basis. What vitamins should you take?
Well, these are the top recommendations from the “experts”:
- Vitamin E – 400 IU
- Vitamin C – 1,000 – 2,000 mg
- Beta Carotene – 15,000 IU
- Multi-vitamin pill (look for one that has 100% of Recommended Daily Allowance)
Another interesting fact: Vitamin B12 can apparently help stave off senility. According to Tufts University, as we get older, our bodies cannot absorb B12 as efficiently and the result is a host of problems like dementia and other neurological disorders. BTW – many multi-vitamin supplements have B12 but they say you may want to take an additional B12 pill to get an optimal dose. I just bought Vit A, B12, C, E and a vitamin supplement. Hope they help me over the long run . . .
