Unique Stuffed Cheeseburger

I’ve never had a burger without ketchup. At the Iron Horse Restaurant in Westwood, NJ, Marita and I tried their unique cheeseburger. It’s made by sprinkling crumbled cheese on a beef patty, putting another patty on top of it, then rolling everything up into a big meatball. Then you flatten the meatball, making sure no air gets into it, and cook it till the cheese melts into the beef. I had mine with bleu cheese, and it oozed out when I sliced the bun. It was perhaps one of the best burgers I’ve ever had.

The Iron Horse has been around since 1924. It’s an experience to eat there, and to see families with young children, elderly couples, eating on old wooden tables, surrounded by old prints, turn of the century bric-a-brac and sepia photos. It looked like a scene from a Norman Rockwell picture. I wish I brought my camera.
