Marita gave me this magazine called Chopsticks New York. Their website is www.chopsticksny.com. Did you know that you can get blowfish sashimi in the city? I almost went to that famous Tokyo restaurant that serves blowfish
only (I forget the name), right after my all-time best sushi meal ever at Tsukiji. Well, according to this magazine, blowfish is served as a winter menu item at Azusa of Japan restaurant on 3 East 44th St between 5th and Madison. They also serve blowfish fin sake.
I will have to try blowfish at least once. It’s an ugly looking fish. Marita and I caught one in Palawan. I still can’t figure out how people discovered this fish could be edible, let alone delicious. I remember now why I hesitated to eat at that blowfish restaurant in Tokyo. I had read about those unfortunate people who died from eating this animal so I opted for safer, but equally raw fish. That’s what sushi is isn’t it? – cold, dead raw fish.
