Bistro Filipino . . . Again

We went again to Bistro Filipino today.  We figured that by 2PM on a Sunday, there wouldn’t be many customers.  No such luck.  The place was absolutely packed and I think we got the last available table.  There were customers who came in after us and could not get tables and settled for take out.  Bistro Filipino is barely 2 weeks old so I guess this is a good problem to have.

We had sisig, tosilog, laing and grilled fish.  I especially liked their sisig and laing.  In most other Filipino restaurants, the meat in their sisig tends to be soft, almost rubbery and too greasy.  Bistro Filipino’s sisig is crispy, with just enough onions, and really great if you squeeze lemon juice over it.  The best sisig I’ve had was at Buddy’s in Lucban, Quezon,  my hometown, (they have a branch at Market! Market! in Makati).  Bistro Filipino’s is definitely better.  The laing was equally good, with just the right amount of coconut milk for my taste.

Bistro Filipino is at 580 Rte 303 South, in the Westshore Plaza Mall in Blauvelt, NY (click here for map).  We normally stick to our policy of not going back to the same place twice.  We can happily make an exception for Bistro Filipino.  This could become a regular Sunday habit for us.  BTW – on the way back home, we saw a restaurant called “EpiKorean” ;)  Maybe we’ll try it . . .

  1. Bistro Filipino is awesome. Not only is the food great but the service makes you feel like your part of the family. I didn’t know any of the filipinos on staff but we felt right at home and part of a family potluck.

  2. Yeah – it’s a great place . . . glad you enjoyed it

  3. Great food and great hospitality. Just gets too busy sometimes that if you need anything else, it’s much faster to stand up ang get it yourself. However, a place I will keep going back.

  4. do you have a new phone number, the number listed is NOT IN SERVICE!
