Mark’s girlfriend Cindy treated us to a fantastic dinner at Nobu. Cindy’s a chef at Nobu so we got one of the best tables in the joint, in a section that folks like Donald Trump, J-Lo, Robert De Niro and other celebrities normally dine in. The food just kept coming. Here’s what I can remember of what was served: yellowtail sashimi with tiny jalapeno slices; rock shrimp tempura; squid pasta, slices of squid made to look like pasta; king crab infused with truffle oil, now my favorite Nobu dish; black cod with miso, my old favorite (see picture).
I also had the most unusual dessert – beer ice cream parfait with almond praline and chocolate sauce. The ice cream had a distinct beer taste and was great with the almonds and chocolate. We were served cold sake in green bamboo cups. I had a couple of them and did not get a buzz, which really puzzles me. Nobu is one restaurant that I would gladly make an exception to our rule of not going to the same restaurant twice.
