Becco is celebrity chef Lidia Bastianich’s more modestly priced restaurant. Marita, Mark, Cindy, Jay and I ate there last week. You get great value for your money. The portions are very generous and they have a wine list with bottles under $25.
I had zuppa di pesce misto, which is sautéed seafood in lobster broth served over polentina. Marita had a killer calf’s liver which was pan-seared and served with caramelized onions, pancetta, and polenta. Cindy had Ossobuco with fava beans and spring peas. We had an interesting wine – Erta e China 2005, a light red from Tuscany. Unfortunately, you won’t find it in any stores here; apparently, Bastianich often buys directly from Italian vintners.
I forget what the others ordered. I do remember non-stop pasta servings and eating too much. I was burping all night.
