Moules And Saison Dupont Beer

These last few weeks have been stellar for this foodie. Last night, Marita, Mark, Jay, Cindy and I had a wonderful mussels dinner. I bought five pounds of PEI mussels and some baguettes at Grand Central Market. Cindy cooked one batch moules mariniere style, using some white wine, and she broiled another batch with garlic butter. We finished every single blessed mussel and sopped up the juices with baguette slices. The absolute best mussels I’ve every had, counting even the moules I’ve had in various parts of the south of France. moules

I also bought a bottle of Saison Dupont Vielle Provision beer, billed in saison1some quarters as “the greatest beer on earth”. I always take superlatives like this with a grain of salt. While it did not disappoint – it is a great Belgian brew, no doubt – I was just a little underwhelmed. I prefer the Rochefort Trappiste beer we had at B-Cafe. At least, it went well with the fantastic mussels.
